Netsize mPayment Bills 300 Million Euros in Mobile Services Revenue

Leading mobile transactions and communications aggregator Netsize today revealed the total amount of MPayment billing going through their platform in 2008. With EUR 300 million globally, they have set a record. This figure covers approximately the same amount of transactions, averaging every transaction at around 1 EURO . Not too bad, considering how many markets operate with fairly low ARPUs (Average Revenue Per Month), and that this is a highly competitive market, yet with a great diversity of services globally.

“Direct consumer charging by mobile operators remains the favorite purchasing method of consumers to get entertainment content or to access services over SMS or Mobile Internet/WAP media,” says Stanislas Chesnais, Chairman and CEO, Netsize. “We witness 800% transaction volume growth year-to-year mainly held up by Mobile Internet/WAP services growth. Our higher aggregation level enables the best revenue pay-out to publishers. Covering more than 100 mobile operators in 28 countries makes Netsize the global market leader.”

However, compared to other, more traditional payment processors, there is still a way to go for CEO Stanislas and his team. Major credit card issuer VISA last year processed $681 billion in payments, and that is not even including cash transactions.

I do think though that the Netsize figure is an impressive number, considering how changing the MPayment scene is at the moment. It is gonna be exciting to follow the next year’s numbers for Netsize and their likes, and also to see if VISAs new MPayment venture will be able to compete.
